Resin floor finishes for Oxford

  • Flake: vinyl flakes broadcast to full coverage over a pigmented base coat and sealed with a clear UV-stable topcoat. The workshop floor at the top of this page is a flake system: textured, easy to sweep and tough enough for a car lift and a trolley jack.
  • Solid colour: two coats of high-build epoxy in one colour, like the red floor pictured above. Logos and markings can be set into the surface before the final coat.
  • Metallic: metallic pigments worked through the epoxy for a marbled, flowing finish, sealed with polyurethane or polyaspartic.
  • Self-smoothing: a 3–4mm poured epoxy that levels itself into a flat, glass-like surface, ideal for workshops and older slabs that are pitted or out of level.

Workshop and car-collection floors

A garage that houses a lift, a compressor or a couple of special cars needs a floor that copes with point loads, dropped tools and the odd oil spill without marking. Bonded epoxy resin does that: it is hot tyre pick-up resistant, chemical resistant and seamless, so a spill wipes up rather than soaking into the concrete. For workshops we usually recommend a flake or self-smoothing system, and we can cut in colour-coded bays, walkways or a logo if you want them.

How the installation works in Oxford

  • Day one: diamond grinding with dust-extracted machines, edges included, then filling cracks, holes and salt pits and grinding them flush.
  • Day one to two: moisture vapour barrier primer where the slab needs it, then the base coat and flakes or the metallic layer.
  • Day two to three: scrape and clean the flakes, then the clear UV-stable topcoat.
  • Afterwards: walk on it after 24 hours, park on it after 5 days.

A single or double garage is usually two to three days on site. Workshops and larger floors are surveyed and quoted individually, and for Oxford jobs we plan the days together so the trip up is made once.
