Resin floors for Reading garages, workshops and home gyms

Reading and the Thames Valley towns around it, from Caversham, Tilehurst and Woodley to Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley and Newbury, are a regular part of our route up from Southampton. Garage Upgrade installs bonded epoxy resin floors in domestic garages, home workshops and small commercial units across Berkshire, giving a dusty concrete slab a sealed, seamless surface that is built for daily use.

The concrete is diamond-ground, repaired and coated in layers by our own team, so the resin is part of the floor rather than a skin that peels under the tyres. Pick flake, solid colour, metallic or a self-smoothing pour, and get a free, no-obligation quote before anything is booked.

Resin floor finishes we install in Reading

  • Flake: vinyl flakes broadcast to full coverage over a pigmented base coat and sealed with a clear UV-stable topcoat, as in the floor at the top of this page. Textured for grip and very forgiving of grit and tyre marks.
  • Solid colour: two coats of high-build epoxy in a single colour for a clean, showroom-style floor.
  • Metallic: metallic pigments worked through the epoxy for a marbled, flowing finish, sealed with polyurethane or polyaspartic.
  • Self-smoothing: a 3–4mm poured epoxy that levels itself into a flat, glass-like surface, the right choice for workshops and for slabs that are pitted or out of level.

Every blend and colour is on our colour chart, and we bring samples to the survey.

Turning a Reading garage into usable space

Most of the garages we floor in Reading are not just for the car any more. Home gyms, bike stores, workshops and home offices all need a floor that does not shed dust onto equipment and that cleans with a mop. A bonded resin floor does that, and because it is seamless there are no joints for dirt or spilt liquids to work into. If the garage is being converted, a self-smoothing resin gives a flat, level base for whatever goes on top.

Installation and timings

  • Day one: diamond grinding with dust-extracted machines, edges included, then filling cracks, holes and salt pits and grinding them flush.
  • Day one to two: moisture vapour barrier primer where the slab needs it, then the base coat and flakes or the metallic layer.
  • Day two to three: scrape and clean the flakes, then the clear UV-stable topcoat.
  • Afterwards: walk on the floor after 24 hours, park on it after 5 days.

A single or double garage is usually two to three days on site. Larger workshops are surveyed and quoted individually.

Why resin rather than paint, tiles or mats

  • Ground into the concrete, so it does not peel where you park.
  • Seals the slab and stops concrete dust for good.
  • Resists oil, petrol, coolant, road salt and cleaning chemicals.
  • Hot tyre pick-up resistant and quick to clean.
  • UV-stable topcoat that does not yellow in a bright garage.
