Resin floors for garages and workshops anywhere in Hampshire

Garage Upgrade is based at Millbank Business Centre in Southampton, so every Hampshire job is a short drive for our own installation team: Winchester and the Test Valley, Portsmouth and the coast, Basingstoke and the north of the county, Eastleigh, Fareham and the New Forest. We install bonded epoxy resin floors in domestic garages, home workshops and small commercial units, like the oak-framed double garage pictured at the top of this page.

Each floor is ground into the concrete, repaired and built up in layers, so it will not peel, lift or dust the way paint and loose-laid tiles do. Choose flake, solid colour, metallic or a self-smoothing pour, and get a free, no-obligation quote before anything is booked.

Resin floor finishes we install across Hampshire

  • Flake: vinyl flakes broadcast to full coverage over a pigmented base coat and sealed with a clear UV-stable topcoat. The double garage at the top of this page is a grey flake floor: textured, forgiving of muddy boots and the usual choice for a family garage.
  • Solid colour: two coats of high-build epoxy in a single colour for a clean, uniform floor, like the grey floor in the brick double garage pictured above.
  • Metallic: metallic pigments worked through the epoxy for a marbled, flowing finish, sealed with polyurethane or polyaspartic. Popular for garages that double as a showroom or games room.
  • Self-smoothing: a 3–4mm poured epoxy that levels itself into a flat, glass-like surface. The right system for workshops and for slabs that are worn or out of level.

Every blend and colour is on our colour chart, and we bring samples to every survey in Hampshire.

Preparation on Hampshire concrete

A lot of Hampshire garages sit on slabs poured decades ago, and the coastal ones from Southsea to Lymington see salt and damp all winter. That is why every job starts with diamond grinding the whole slab using dust-extracted machines, edges included, so the resin can key into clean, open concrete. Cracks, holes and salt pits are filled and ground flush. Where a slab is damp or shows signs of moisture coming through, we apply a moisture vapour barrier epoxy primer before the colour coats go on. Skipping these steps is the reason cheap floors fail within a year or two.

How long a resin floor takes

  • Day one: the whole slab is ground, repaired and vacuumed clean.
  • Day one to two: moisture barrier primer where it is needed, then the pigmented base coat and the flake broadcast or metallic layer.
  • Day two to three: loose flake is scraped and cleared, then the clear topcoat goes on.
  • Afterwards: light foot traffic after 24 hours, cars back on the floor after 5 days.

A single or double garage is usually two to three days on site. Larger workshops and commercial units anywhere in Hampshire are surveyed and quoted individually.

What a bonded resin floor does for a Hampshire garage

  • Ends concrete dust on cars, bikes and everything stored in the garage.
  • Shrugs off oil, petrol, coolant, road salt and household chemicals.
  • Resists hot tyre pick-up, so the finish stays put where you park.
  • Seamless, with nothing to trap dirt, so it mops clean in minutes.
  • A UV-stable topcoat that holds its colour in a bright, south-facing garage.
